Stephen Barchan is a British composer and Tutor in Composition and Music Theory at Dulwich Music Academy.
Broadcasts and performances of his music have been given worldwide by organisations and performers including Aldeburgh Music, BBC, BCMG, Endymion, Jane Manning, Joseph Kubera, Lior Eitan, London Sinfonietta, LSO Discovery, Park Lane Group, Peter Donohoe, Psappha, Riot Ensemble, Royal Musical Association and RTV Arnhem.
He was a member of the London Sinfonietta Collective (2010-11), a Britten-Pears Young Artist (2012-13) and Chair of the Composers Forum for London New Wind Festival (2011-14).
Recent premieres include ‘At Sevens and Nines’ for solo oboe, performed by Catherine Pluygers at Burgh House in October 2023 and ‘Woodland Mist’ for solo piano, performed by Emelia Noack-Wilkinson at Dulwich College in December 2023. Upcoming performances include the world premiere of ‘Three Forms of Water’ for ensemble (17 players) to be given at The Warehouse in November 2024.
