The Jewish German composer Leon Jessel mainly composed operetts. His Schwalbenhochzeit was his most popular one. He converted to Christianity to be able to mary his first wife. He found his death after he was arrested and tortured because the Gestapo found a letter in which he wrote about the gruesome threat of the destruction of the Jewish people.
