In 1674 Kusser moved to Stuttgart with his parents. Two years later he went to Paris and Versailles for 6 years. He worked at the courts in Baden-Baden und Ansbach. In 1690 he became the first Kapellmeister at the new Braunschweig Opera.
At the end of 1695 Kusser left Hamburg. After having worked in (a.o.) Nürnberg and Augsburg, he was appointed with Eberhard Ludwig (Württemberg) at the Stuttgart Court in 1699, where he became Hofkapellmeister in 1700.
At the end of 1704 Kusser went to London, where he worked as composer and privat teacher. Then, in 1707, he left for Dublin, where he became “Chappel-Master of Trinity College” in 1711. In 1716 he was appointed “Chief Composer” and “Master of the Music, attending His Majesties State in Ireland”. Kusser died in Dublin in 1727.
