Christopher Ludwig is a Canadian born composer, record label owner, producer and flutist. He holds Bachelor degrees in Music and in Education, as well as a Master degree in Composition from the University of British Columbia. Since 1998, he has completed over 200 works. Mr. Ludwig is a frequently recorded composer, especially in the area of art song. His recent release is a large three-album song cycle based on the poetry of William Carlos Williams. These three albums: Figure 5, Winter Trees and Pictures from Brueghel were released by Mr. Ludwig’s record label Ludwig Recordings in 2013.

In 2008, he was commissioned by Baritone Cliff Ridley to compose a continuous setting of Vancouver Island poet Ken Cather’s book entitled Outward Voyage. A recording consisting of those art songs, entitled, Outward Voyage was signed to Con Brio Recordings (2009). Mr. Ludwig’s first commercial recording was Expressivity (2007); a collection of 33 of his keyboard works released by Con Brio Recordings. Future projects include an album of his works for flute, which is well underway.

Outside of the studio, Ludwig’s art songs have been performed numerous times by Baritone Cliff Ridley throughout B.C. He also continues to collaborate with different pianists from around the world.

His most recent publications include four volumes of flute duets entitled Discourse for two flutes (2003), and two works for flute and piano by the Avondale Press (2007). Ludwig is also a dedicated poet whose poetry has been published in various periodicals.

Christopher Ludwig is an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre.

He currently resides in Richmond, British Columbia.
