Conservatory where he studied with Richard Hoffmann and graduated with
Bachelor’s degree in Composition. Began private lessons with George Crumb
in Philadelphia in 1971. Entered graduate program in composition at Cornell
University where he earned Masters and Doctoral degrees under teacher Karel
Husa. Appointed to composition faculty at Eastman School of Music in 1981.
