Closed cité, built 1831-41, in which many artist lived: Chopin 1842-49 on nr 9, George Sand 1842-47 on nr 5 – the pianist Pierre-Joseph-Guillaume Zimmermann lived at nr 7 (1831-32) and held a salon, which was visited by Rossini, Liszt and Berlioz – three pupils of Zimmermann lived also in these premises: Charles Valentin Alkan, Frédéric Kalkbrenner and Antoine Marmontel ─ the fine cité is not easy of access.
