Vojin Komadina was born in Karlovac (Croatia). He spent his early childhood in Montenegro (Bar, Kotor), Bosnia (Bihac) and Serbia (Sremska Kamenica), where his father was an officer. In 1941 the family settled in Belgrade (refugees from Karlovac), which becomes a more durable family destination.
He followed elementary school and graduated high school in Belgrade, as well as the secondary music school "Stankovic", where he graduated in 1954. During his secondary school he started composer, and the composer Svetomir Nastasijević gives his first lessons.
His official composition studies started at Music Academy in Belgrade in the class of Professor Michael Logar. He graduated in 1960 at the Music Academy in Sarajevo, in the class of professor Bozidar Trudica.
At the end of the seventies, Komadina studies at the early summer course in Darmstadt (Germany) with professor Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Ligeti, and completes the master course on the high school in Cologne with Professor Milko Kelemen.
Further professional development takes place following the contemporary music scene, and active participation in the review of various modern music, like music in the Zagreb Biennial, Warsaw autumn festival of contemporary chamber music in Radenci (Slovenia) and others.
As absolvent he begins to work in the Central Music School in Tuzla (1959) where, as professor of harmony and other expert subjects, till the end of 1965/66 school. Work in this school continued later as a visiting professor. He went to Tuzla for other related professional activities: cooperation with the pioneering theater, KUD "Mitar Trifunovic Uco, and, in particular, long-term successful cooperation with the National Theater.
Moving to Sarajevo (1966) based permanent employment in the TV SA, where in 1975 he performs various editorial matters musical and cultural program. At the same time he is engaged in the music academy as a foreign associate to the subject of analysis of polyphonic forms. Since 1975 Kodima is constantly engaged in the Academy as a professor of composition and orchestration courses. This continued till the end of the 1982/83 season, when, due to health, he went on an early disability pension.
Cooperation with the Academy of Music in Podgorica (Titograd) started in 1985, as freelance Professor harmony and analysis, and later for composition and Orkestration.
10 April 1992 leaving the war affected Sarajevo, he went to Belgrade. From the basic reason, in the new situation, DISCLAIM pensions, and permanent employment based on the Music Academy in Podgorica, he began in 1992/93, when he was elected in the position of full professor for composition and orchestration courses. From October 1994 he performed duty in the VD Dean forced on the mentioned Academy. He was on these duties until the end of life, the fact that he tried (unsuccessfully) to get rid of functions VD Dean.
Komadina has served more functions in the working associations — UK President of Bosnia and Herzegovina (1979–1981), President SOKOJ a (1981/82), Secretary of the SOKOJ (1982/86), a member of the jury, and so on.
