Fabio Cifariello Ciardi (Roma, 1960) studied composition and electronic
music at the conservatory S. Cecilia of Rome and musicology at the
University of Bologna. As post-graduated he studied with Giacomo Manzoni,
with Tristain Murail and Phillipe Manoury in Paris at IRCAM and with Franco
Donatoni at Accademia Nazionale di S.Cecilia in Rome. In 1991 he won the
selection for the Cursus de Informatique Musicale at IRCAM. In 1995 he has
been invited at EMS (Stockholm) as composer in residence. His compositions
have been awarded in several International competitions ["Ennio Porrino
1989" (Cagliari — Italy) , "L. Russolo 1992" (Varese — Italy), "MusicaNova
1993" (Praha — Czech), "ICMC CD-selection 1993" (Tokyo — Japan), "Olympia

Since 1989 he is involved in the study of the processes of memorization and
recognition of sonic events and the aesthetic and ethical role of a "sonic
common memory" in the post-modern age. On these topics he collaborate with
the Psychology Dep. of Rome University "La Sapienza". He is member of ECONA,
Interuniversity Centre for the Research on Cognitive Processing in natural
and artificial systems.
Fabio Cifariello Ciardi teaches composition at the conservatorium of
Perugia. He is president of MUSICA’85 Concerts Association and member of
Edison Studio, an Association of composers for the production and diffusion
