The International Musical Composition Prize of Tarragona City was awarded to the score "Dream variation" for orchestra by Chinese composer Musheng Chen.

Born in the Chinese province of Zhejiang in 1971 and professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the composer will receive the 12,000 euro prize.
In addition, the winning work will be released during the year 2008 by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra National and Catalonia (OBC).

The jury chose the winner from among a total of 110 scores filed, a share higher than in the call for 2006, in which 99 works chose to compete. The scores came from 29 different countries of the five continents.
