The first edition of the Premio Museo Liceo Egipcio, a Spanish cultural prize, is won by Cristóbal Halffter in the music category. According to the jury Cristóbal Halffter "is one of the greatest active composers and orchestral conductors. His work combines the art of music and the compromise with social reality to create a better world."
