Biography: 

Singer and composer Luigi Rossi was in the service of cardinal Barberini in Rome from 1641 till 1646. He was called to Paris in 1646 at the instigation of Marazin. In Paris, in 1647, he produced his opera Orfeo — one of the first Italian operas given there.
