A. Banchieri was an important early 17th century Italian musical figure. He was an organist, composer, theoretician and man of letters. He received his musical training in Lucca and completed his studies with Guiseppe Guami. In 1589, he joined the order of the Olivetani monks. 7 years later, he was named organist at the S. Michele Monastery in Bosco (Bologna). (Contribution by <email@example.com>.)
