In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of White Plains, Downtown Music at Grace will present a centennial concert pairing two White Plains natives who have achieved illustrious international careers in music: Flutist Mindy Kaufman and Pianist William Wolfram. The pair will be accompanied by Downtown Sinfonietta, the resident chamber symphony that features musicians of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, with Conductor Vincent Lionti. The Yamaha concert grand for this concert is provided courtesy of Faust Harrison Pianos, White Plains.

Solo piccolo and flutist Kaufman joined the New York Philharmonic in 1979 at the age of 22, after performing for three seasons with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She received a bachelor of music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Walfrid Kujala, Bonita Boyd and James Galway.
Kaufman has appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Music Directors Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur and Lorin Maazel.

Pianist William Wolfram was a silver medalist in both the William Kapell and the Naumburg International Piano Competitions and a bronze medalist at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow.
Wolfram has appeared with many of the greatest orchestras in the world, and has developed a special reputation as the rare concert soloist who also is equally versatile and adept as a recitalist, accompanist and chamber musician. In all of these genres, he is highly sought after for his special focus on the music of Franz Liszt and Beethoven. He is a special champion for the music of 20th century American composers.

A meet-the-artists’ reception follows the program. Downtown Music concerts take place at Grace Episcopal Church, located at the intersection of Main Street and Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. Parking is available at either the Church Street or City Center garage.

Downtown Music, founded in 1988 and based at historic Grace Episcopal Church in White Plains, has been offering Westchester residents a rich array of concerts performed by professional musicians for 27 years.
