The Aula of the old university was the site of the premiere of Beethoven’s seventh symphony as well as his Wellingtons Sieg on 8 December 1813. On 27 March 1808 Haydn’s Die Schöpfung (The Creation) was performed here (in Italian!), conducted by Salieri, and visited by a.o. Hummel, Beethoven and Gyrowetz, as well as the Esterházy’s, with Joseph Haydn as guest of honor.
