On 3 August a statue of Irish composer Séan Ó Riada was unveiled. This took place in Cúil Aodha, in the Cork Gaeltacht (Ireland). The unveiling was followed by a performance by the surviving members of Ceoltóirí Cualann, a group in which he also participated.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the composer's daughter Rachel Ni Riada, as well as other relatives. The daughter explained: "We really appreciate it. The organising committee approached us a few months ago and it took off very quickly. We are thrilled."

Ó Riada statue is a creation of sculptor Mike Kenny from Castleisland, Co Kerry.
