The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival's Paul Hindemith Prize, an award of €20,000, was won by Japanese composer Dai Fujikura. It was given during a ceremony on 16 August, featuring members of Ensemble Resonanz, who played Hindemith's String Quartet No. 7 as well as Fujikara's "Another Place" (2005) for wind-string sextet and "Time Unlocked" (2007) for string quartet.

The jury, headed by festival director Rolf Beck, was unanimous in its decision.
