Prokofiev diaries published for first time
Anthony Phillips has translated the diaries that Sergey Prokofiev wrote between 1907 and 1914. The book — called Sergey Prokofiev, Diaries 1907-1914, Prodigious Youth — was launched on Wednesday.
On BBC radio Phillips told that Prokofiev was a “wonderful writer” who was “uniquely candid” in his diaries. “He started to write an autobiography which, by the time it had reached 200,000 words, he had only got to the age of 17,” said Phillips.
