The Northwestern University School of Music has awarded the British composer and conductor Oliver Knussen the 2006 Nemmers Composition Prize. It is the second time this biennial prize is given; in 2004 it was given to John Adams. Knussen receives a $100,000 purse and a residency at the Northwestern University School of Music. Also, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will perform one of Knussen's works in 2007–2008. The prize is given to "classical music composers of outstanding achievement who have significantly affected the field of composition". [source:]
