On 31 March 2006, American composer Gunther Schuller has received the A.I. du Pont Composers Award at the Delaware Grand Opera House. The yearly $5000 prize was given to the 80-year old composer during a performance with the Delaware Symphony. In his compositions Gunther Schuller has always formed a bridge between jazz music and more traditional "classical" music. (Source: www.delawareonline.com.)
