Tessenows birth place is still unknown, but could be in northern Germany near Rostock (village Tessenow). The only fact I know is that he became a church musician at the city church of Pillkallen (later Schlossberg/Ostpreußen, today Russia) in 1721, where he was working untill his death in 1767. Some of his compositions I found as transcribtions handmade by my grandfather, who was church musician first in Friedeberg/Neumark and then near Fürstenwalde from 1928 to 1943. The sheets were marked “C(arl) August Tessenow s(eines) Z(eichens) Kantor zu Pillkallen a.D. 1721–1767, wahrsch(einlich) geb(oren) um 1690 bei Rostock”.
