Federik Magle, composer, organist and pianist. Born in 1977. Member of the Danish Composer’s Society.
Started composing at the age of 5 and took lessons of piano and music theory from the age of six. The first public performance of his music took place when Frederik was 8 years old.
Frederik Magle’s music has been performed by The London Philharmonic Orchestra, Zrcher Kammerorkester, Riga Philharmonic Orchestra, South-Jutland Symphony Orchestra, The Danish Radio Sinfonietta, Nikolaj Znaider and many other outstanding ensembles and soloists.
As a soloist Frederik Magle has played in - among many other places - Saint Peter’s Basilica (Rome), Windsor Castle, Luzern Concert Hall, Riga Cathedral, The Danish Radio Concert Hall (on many occasions). In 1999 Frederik played at the christening of H.H. Prince Nikolai, and later he was invited to perform a solo concert for the Royal family at Fredensborg Castle. On the 4th of October 2002, his piece "Pact of the Baptism" was given it’s premiere performance at the christening of H.H. Prince Felix in Mogeltonder Church.
Frederik Magle won the the danish part of the Eurovision competition for young soloists in 1994, and made it to the finals in Warsaw.
Frederik has also recieved many grants and prizes, including the honourful Grant of H.R.H. The Prince Consort, The Grant of H.H. Prince Joachim and H.H. Princess Alexandra, Carlsberg’s Prize of ideas, Unibank’s Arts Prize, The Grand Arts Award of the Free Masons (2001) and Countess Erna Hamilton’s scolarship (twice).
