The Dutch composer, organist, teacher and conductor Henri Hermans studied at the Aachen Church Music Conservatory Gregoriushaus. In 1902 he was appointed organist and choral conductor at the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Maastrich. In 1908 he finished the Conservatory in Liège. From 1911 till 1914 he studied conducting in Cologne, Germany. In 1916 he became conductor of the Maastrichts Stedelijk Orkest, which was later to become the Limburgs Symfonie Orkest.
He was buried on 28 February 1947 at the Tongerseweg graveyard in Maastricht.
