John Williams awarded by American Film Institute
For the first time in its history, the Life Achievement Award of the American Film Institute is for a composer. In 2016 the 44th AFI Life Achievement Award will go to John Williams.
Sir Howard Stringer, Chair, AFI Board of Trustees, says: “John Williams has written the soundtrack to our lives.” He refers to the more than 150 sound tracks — for films as well as television series, many of which iconic — that the composer created.
On June 9, 2016 there will be a gala Tribute in Los Angeles, California, where Williams will be honored.
