The Henry Mancini Institute at the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music (Miami, USA) has appointed James Newton Howard as its new artistic director.

Howard will succeed film composer, arranger and multi-Grammy-Award-winning trumpeter and band leader Terence Blanchard when he begins his term in January 2016.
