Francisco Goldschmidt received Cologne music prize
Chilean composer Francisco Goldschmidt has received the 2016 Bernd-Alois-Zimmermann grant of the German city of Cologne (Köln).
The Jury writes that Goldschmidt "uses the possibilities of traditional instruments in a radical way, without moving away too far from their idiom and practical use. This way he finds new solutions for sounds on the edges of tone and noise, at the same time working in great detail."
The prize, worth €10000, was presented last Wednesday in Cologne.
