Ensemble 900 del Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana
Richard Alexandre, Rittelmann Bariton
Arturo Tamayo, Conductor
Two weighty chamber works are presented in this concert: the Serenade Op. 24 and the Suite Op. 29. While the Serenade evinces the composer in a creative phase immediately prior to
the breakthrough to the epochal 12-tone method, the Suite (1925/26) manifests Schönberg in full command of his new technical achievements.
The two works have a sanguine character in common; minuet and march rhythms are prominent in the Serenade’s sonic image, while Schönberg in the Suite opens up to the dances fashionable at his time.
The Ensemble 900, successfully concertizing for over 15 years under its appointed conductor Maestro Arturo Tamayo, also makes an exciting contribution with “Isola per trio d’archi” by the Italian composer Giampaolo Coral (d. 2011).
