He created in 1994 the multi-media project Autunna et sa Rose with the fundamental aim to reach a synthesis of various arts, in particular poetry and music, but soon after also video production. From a musical point of reference, the compositions can be classified in an avant-garde contemporary-classical style, drawing most of their inspiration from several 20th-century authors, and from some of the new century as well. More specifically, from the beginning, the compositional techniques have been based on the presence of electronic sounds, but only during the last decade the style has gradually refined, providing electronics with the right role, not only through the use of synthesizers and samplers but now even of sound processors and field recording. In any case, it is undoubtedly worth recalling the role of vocals, apart from spoken theatrical voices, especially through the contribution of the soprano - sometimes even together with a mezzosoprano, in order to entangle the listener into the oneiric substance of their sweet vocalises and trills. About the extended techniques, it is worth noting the increasing usage of the piano stringboard, actually employed since 2012, but more recently in combined use with analog sound effects (live electronics), handled directly by the performer via pedals; moreover, the vast majority of the piano stringboard parts have to be played using several objects, most of which of non-conventional use.
Born in 1967. Graduated in Pure Mathematics. After his academic studies, he developed his interests in music and poetry, already shown since his childhood and developed at the beginning of the 90s, when his writings were issued in some independent culture magazines.
In 1994 he created the multi-media project Autunna et sa Rose, focusing above all his interest on the interrelationship between poetry and music composition. Around 2006 he started working intensely on video production, creating some videos in order to use them in a synchronized way during the Autunna et sa Rose shows, with the specific aim to communicate feelings in a more reflective way and different from those expressed by music.
Over the years, it is worthwhile to mention the collaboration with the American musician Steven Brown (Tuxedomoon) the music-theatre opus Sturm (2002) and the one with Ataraxia in 2005 in a live album. In the following years, some more concept works were issued, L’Art et la Mort (2006), a sort of homage to Surrealism and Artaud’s theatre, and Phalène d’onyx (2012), born from a choice among several poems written since 2004; in these works, it is worth mentioning the relevant collaboration (continuing since then) with the excellent soprano Sonia Visentin, a renowned interpreter of contemporary music. In 2018 a composition for soprano and mezzosoprano, titled S’engouffrer dans ces nœuds... and already issued in the CD Entrelacs du rêve (2017), was the subject of the paper Dreamlinks: Link Theory Meets Music Composition. An Introduction to Compositional Methods Related to Primary Links, presented at the 21st Bridges Conference in Stockholm.
Currently, the forthcoming work entitled Stalker/Zone (SZ, LP - 100 numbered copies, out in December 2023) is issued, a sort of experimental “psychological soundtrack” for the film Stalker (1979) by Andrej Tarkovskij.
