how Julius Conus was murdered
While on vacation in Moscow after the revolution Julius Conus, great violinist and composer was refused an exit visa to return home. The powers that be decreed that any one helping Conus, housing or feeding him (during that time food stamps were needed to get food) would be jailed. As a result Julius Conus died of starvation in the streets of Moscow

spiteful vindictive monsters
spiteful vindictive monsters ! why are composers always regarded as expendable objects? Furthermore, why is their music always cut up into bits & pieces and presented in parts. You never see an artwork cut into bits & presented to the public.

Conus
I'm confused by the entry that Conus was murdered, dying of starvation following Russian revolution (1917).
I've read that Conus died in Moscow in 1942, about 15 years after the revolution. Following the revolution, it appears that he did leave Moscow, living in both Paris and New York, before returning to Moscow in the 1930s. Apparently his son married Rachmaninov's daughter during the 30s and the two composers were both friends as well as in-laws.
Is it the case that Conus died of starvation during the war, following the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union?
