English conductor who studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Became musical director of the Metropolitan Ballet, then of Sadler Wells Theater Ballet, and in 1960 principal conductor of the Royal Ballet touring widely throughout the world. He worked in TV and opera and composed incidental music for films, TV and radio. He was famous for his many arrangements of other Composers’ music. His film score for the "Tales of Beatrix Potter" (1971) was one of his own original works.
He died of Cancer in Australia in 2003.
