Sister of Felix.
"From my knowledge of Fanny I should say she has neither the inclination nor the vocation for authorship. She is too much of a woman for this. She manages her home and neither thinks of the public, nor of the musical world, nor even of music at all, until her primary duties are fulfilled. Publishing would only disturb her in these, and I cannot give my approval for it."
So wrote Felix Mendelssohn of his sister Fanny, in a letter to their mother dated 1837 Four years older than her brother, Fanny’s own musical genius is undisputed. At 13, she Could play the whole of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier from memory. Felix had the highest regard for her capabilities as a composer. Six of her songs were published under his name. Her own works number over 400.
On October 3, 1829, Fanny Mendelssohn married the painter Wilhelm Hensel. For this occasion, Felix was to have composed an organ piece. Illness prevented him from doing so, so Fanny wrote "Praeludium" for her own wedding. It is a festive work, lying quite high on the the keyboard. It is published by Furore in Kassel, Germany, in 1988, under the name Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn. The Furore Edition number is 124.

Kevin King has written a full length motion picture screenplay based upon the life of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel. His screenplay was copyrighted BEFORE the current biography was published in France. He has had a few producers express interest in it, but nothing definite.
If you would like to help him get it produced or if you are just interested, please contact him at <kevinthek@hotmail.com>.
Thank you.
