MusicAtlas: Wiesbaden

Capital of Hessen. In spite of old denominations - Roman Aquae Mattiacae, medieval Visibada - the music history of the town seems to have started around 1800.

Joachim Raff piano teacher 1856-77, Hugo Riemann 1890-95 at no more existing Fuchs'sches Konservatorium; Reger studied here 1890-92 and worked as teacher 1895-96.
