MusicAtlas: Bonn

From 1600 until 1794 residence of the bishop-electors of Cologne, some of them fervent music lovers. As a member of the court orchestra Beethoven appeared in several palaces.

Destroyed are Beethoven’s “second home”, the Breuning house at Münsterplatz, and the houses in the Rheingasse: Fischerhaus (Beethoven from 1776) and Im goldenen Karpfen (Mozart family 1763). - From 1949 until 1990 capital of the German Federal Republic.
