Chilean composer Vicente Bianchi, who is now 96 years old, has been rewarded the 2016 Premio Nacional de Artes Musicales (National Prize for the Musical Arts). This is the highest award given by the Chilean government. Apart from a diploma, Bianchi will receive a sum of about 18 million Chilean pesos (almost $27,000) as well as a monthly pension.
