On February 12, St. Olaf College, in Northfield, Minnesota, will award an honorary degree to American composer David Maslanka.

Maslanka has served on the faculties of the State University of New York at Geneseo, Sarah Lawrence College, New York University, and Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York. He has been a freelance composer since 1990. His over 130 compositions include pieces for wind ensemble, seven symphonies, 15 concertos, a Mass, and many concert pieces.
