Jean-Pierre Nouvel was born in Lyon (France). Studies in psychology. Initial musical experience: violin, piano, and finally voice. Diploma from the Musical Conservatory of Annecy (France). Following his studies, he worked in turn as a banker, marketing manager, concert artist and human resources professional.
He began composing scoring of some industrial films; a few traditional jazz pieces and "classic" works (embryonic). He finally composed one oratorio, five symphonic poems, a symphony, a lyrical poem, a cantata, one opera ("Padre Pio e la Notte Oscura"), and some melodies.
Jean-Pierre Nouvel is one of the best “post-romantic” creators I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy. It seems beyond doubt that he masterfully captured the scores and spirit of Richard Strauss or Anton Bruckner (e.g. « Der Tod von Eva B. » or « Spirit »). However, such inspiration became a mere starting point whereby he developed a truly original artistic personality, undoubtedly his own in all its multi-faceted splendour (e.g. « Galaxies »). M. Best
