"Small Duet for two violins" Opus 38.
Much of his music is known to students of the violin due to its use in violin
method books, including those by Christian Hohmann and Samuel Applebaum.
<xcf@xnet.ro> writes: Before Mazas was director in Cambrai, he was concerts director at Orléans. In 1842, he represented a little opera in an act-"Kiosque"-at the Comic Opera (l’Opéra Comique). His 75 etudes for violin are divided in 3 books: Etudes Spéciales, Brilliantes et D’Artistes. Les etudes d’Artistes are quite difficult, necessary in the preparation of Paganini’s 24 Caprices. He also has a viola method, an opera: Coxinne au Capitole, and a comic opera: Mustapha.
