At the age of 9 Fétis was organist at Sainte Waudro (Mons). He became Professor at the Paris Conservatory in 1821, and Professor at Brussels Consevatory in 1833. F§etis also compiled the “Biographie Universelle Des Musiciens”.
He seems to have more importance as a a critic than as a composer.
