The Johnny Mercer Award — which is the highest honor bestowed by the Songwriters Hall of Fame — for 2017 will go to Alan Menken. The award will be presented at the 48th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on June 15th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Alan Menken receives the award because his compositions are of such high quality and impact, that it upholds the gold standard set by the legendary Johnny Mercer.
