Last Saturday Dutch conductor, composer and pianist Reinbert de Leeuw received two awards on the occasion of his 80th birthday. They were both presented to him during a special concert on the occasion of his birthday.

He received the Silver Medal of the city of Amsterdam from the mayor of that city. The award was for his great contribution to Dutch music culture, as well as his international influence on modern and traditional music

De Leeuw also received the Prins Bernard Cultuur Prijs — worth €150000 — for his complete oeuvre.
