Roberto Sierra awarded Tomás Luis de Victoria Prize

Puerto Rico born composer Roberto Sierra has won the “Premio SGAE de la Música Iberoamericana Tomás Luis de Victoria”. The yearly prize is awarded by the Society of Spanish Composers Foundation. It is the highest honor given in Spain to a composer of Spanish or Latin American origin.

The award committee explains that Sierra receives the prize for “the quality and variety of his work, which combines current techniques with the essence of Caribbean music and is a personal contribution to all genres of music.”

Sierra will receive the prize, which includes a sum of €20000, this spring in Madrid, Spain.
