Kate More receives Matthijs Vermeulen Prize

Australian-Dutch composer Kate Moore will be the first woman to receive the Matthijs Vermeulen Prize. The prize, made available by the Dutch Performing Arts Fund, was established in 1972 and consists of € 20,000. It is named after Dutch composer and music critic Matthijs Vermeulen (1888-1967).

Moore receives the prize for her composition The Dam. This piece was written in 2015 for the Canberra International Music Festival, Australia, and was set for soprano and chamber orchestra, which included a didgeridoo and an electric baritone guitar.
