Hungarian composer Péter Eötvös has won the 2018 Goethe Medal, a German state award. The medal will be given to the composer on 28 August in Weimar, Germany.

This yearly award goes to artists who have made important contributions to international cultural exchange. As a conductor Eötvös has always interpreted the works of his contemporary colleagues.
