Dutch composer Joël Bons wins Grawemeyer award

The 2019 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition has been won by Dutch composer Joël Bons. He receives the prestigious prize for his composition “Nomaden,” which is an hourlong work featuring a cellist and an ensemble playing a wide array of instruments from across Asia.

With the award Joël Bons — who has long thought deeply about integrating music from different corners of the world — wil receive a sum of $100,000.
