British composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Philharmonic Society. He is the 102nd musician to receive this medal. Some of his predecessors include György Kurtág, Igor Strawinsky, Johannes Brahms, Henri Dutilleux, Ralph Vaughan Willams, Richard Strauss, and Pierre Boulez.
