Romantic Rediscoveries: The Music of Emilie Mayer & Young Artist Showcase Concert

concert
Samstag, Juni 15, 2019 - 20:00

Dubbed the "female" Beethoven, Emilie Mayer was a talented composer whose works were performed often in her lifetime but fell into obscurity after her death.
This concert features two of Ms. Mayer's best orchestral works, her towering Faust Overture which ranks among the works of Berlioz, Liszt, and Wagner along with the New York premiere of her Fifth (Seventh) Symphony in F Minor which hints at the influence of Mendelssohn and Schumann. Two winners of the 2019 Young Artist Competition will also perform as soloists with the orchestra.

Forgoing traditional printed program notes, Ensemble 212 also features unique live program notes projected on a screen during the performance, serving as a visual listening guide for the audience. This spectacular concert will thrill audiences with dazzling young soloists and the rediscovery of an important long-forgotten female composer!
