Nathan Currier wins International Sackler Award

The 2008 International Sackler Award for Music Composition was won by Nathan Currier.

This recently established award honors one composer each year with a $20,000 commission to compose a new work. The commission is followed by a premiere and recording of the work. For this year the composition will be a piano concerto.

Another composition by Nathan Currier, the chamber work "Possum Wakes from Playing Dead" for cello and harp, which was commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic, will be premiered in Berlin on 30 September.
