The winners of the 2007 Polar Music Prize are composer Steve Reich and jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins .

The prize, worth $143,000, will be handed out by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at a ceremony in Stockholm on May 21.

According to the Royal Academy of Music, which selects the winners, Reich had "transferred questions of faith, society and philosophy into a hypnotic sounding music that has inspired musicians and composers of all genres."
