Film music composers have a new award to win. The mayors of the Polish cities of Krakow and Katowice have announced a new annual award to the memory of internationally acclaimed film music composer Wojciech Kilar. The award, which will be given for the first time in 2015, also wants to consolidate the image of Krakow and Katowice “within the international film and music recording industry.”

The award will consist of a recording session with the orchestra and choir from Katowice or Krakow. Recording and postproduction will be carried out at Krakow's Alvernia Studios.
