The Marie-Josée Kravis Prize for New Music for this year is awarded to Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. It is one of the largest new-music prizes in the world, and is awarded every two seasons by the New York Philharmonic to a composer for extraordinary artistic endeavor in the field of new music.
The prize was announced on 17 November during a concert. Andriessen will receive $200,000 and a commission to write a new work for the New York Philharmonic. The new composition will be premiered in the 2018–19 season, with Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden leading the orchestra.
