French composition prizes for Eötvös and Garcia-Velasquez
The French Académie des Beaux-Arts has awarded the 2016 Prix de la Fondation Simone et Cino del Duca to Hungarian composer Péter Eötvös. The prize, with a value of €100,000 was announced at a ceremony on 16 November in Paris.
On the same evening Columbian composer Pedro Garcia-Velasquez was awarded with the Prix Pierre Cardin. This prize, worth €7,500, wishes to encourage the work of young artists.
